Spin Index Financial Glossary

What is it? The S&P Mortgage Performance Index (SPIN) is the proportion of delinquent MBS Securities that have been rated by S&P. There is a Prime SPIN and a Sub-Prime SPIN. The index is calculated monthly using the weighted average of all residential MBS issues.
